1. Al Cielo, Mexico

Tucked away on the Xpu-Ha Beach between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Al Cielo is a stunning, private resort. Here you will find just four rustic style rooms, each named after an element. The rooms may look rustic, but they feature air conditioning, king size beds and each one is less than 100 feet from the white sand beach. Al Cielo literally translates to mean “to heaven” and the name is a fitting one.

2. Nikoi, Indonesia

Just two hours from Singapore, you’ll find the Bintan Islands. Nestled in this group of island is Nikoi Island, home to one of the best beachfront resorts in the world. The resort features dual swimming pools, but you’ll probably want to hit the beach. The island is covered with virgin rainforests and there are plenty of trails so you can explore. If you prefer the water, head out and take a closer look at the amazing coral reefs just a few feet from the beach.

3. Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, U.S. Virgin Islands

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is in St. Thomas and features its own beach. While the beach is just 1,000 feet long, it is only available to guests and the local iguanas. Palm trees provide a little shade along the white sand, but if you want, you can enjoy the view from your room, just three feet from the sand. There is also a beachfront pool, as well as a myriad of sports gear that is free to use.  Try out snorkeling, jump in a kayak or test out an aqua tricycle.

4. Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort & Spa, Thailand

With four restaurants, a full spa, three bars and a huge infinity pool, you might not even get to the beach during your stay at the Phi Phi Island Village. The resort sits on a private 3,000 foot beach in Lo Ba Gao Bay on the island of Phi Phi Don. The comfortable rooms can definitely be called beachfront, as they are just three short steps to the sand and not much further to the water.

5. Knossos Beach Bungalows & Suites, Greece

Knossos is a very short drive from Crete, allowing guests to enjoy the amenities of the city while staying in an elegant resort. Knossos features 120 mini villas built on terraces so every villa has an ocean view. The nearest villas are just three feet from the white sand. If you prefer to skip the salt water, you can relax in one of three pools on the resort. There are also three bars and restaurants, ensuring food and alcohol for everyone without crowds.

6. Island HoppInn, The Bahamas

Cat Island is a great place to spend some beach time and Island HoppInn on Fernandez Bay is the perfect place to stay. While this is one of the few beach resorts that doesn’t have a pool, HoppInn does offer a private beach with only four rooms. The rooms are literally steps from the beach and offer air conditioning and Internet access, as well as kitchenettes so you can eat in. Dive into the warm water or just relax in a hammock overlooking the sea and you will never want to go home.

7. Crusoe’s Retreat, Fiji

Crusoe’s Retreat, on Viti Levu Island in Fiji, offers guests accommodation in bures, or traditional huts. The bures are right by the edge of the water, making it easy to wake up and dive right into the ocean. The rooms include sea kayaking and snorkeling gear. You can also take hikes through the jungle on the island or play volleyball on the beach with other guests and staff.

8. Napili Sunset Resort, Hawaii

Napili Sunset Resort consists of two story buildings overlooking golden sand. The ocean here has gentle waves and it’s not uncommon to see dolphins or whales out in Napali Bay during the winter. With the sand just a few feet from each of the tropically decorated rooms, you can easily enjoy the marine life sightings from the comfort of your own window.

9. Shelborne South Beach, Florida

Situated on Miami’s South Beach, the Shelborne South Beach hotel was originally built in the 1940’s. It has been recently restored to create a fun retro themed hotel. It fits right into the Art Deco District that surrounds the hotel. Apart from the funky design, the beach is the big attraction. The Shelborne pool stops right where the sand starts, allowing for easy beach access once you are finished swimming.

10. Castaways Resort & Spa, Australia

On Mission Beach in North Queensland, you’ll find the Castaways Resort & Spa. The nine mile beach is unique in that it is made up of coral sand. While the resort is a little further from the water than some of the hotels on this list, it’s still a short stroll away from your room. Enjoy snorkeling and diving, kayaking or fishing on the water, or just hang around and explore the coral reef right off the beach.

Beachfront hotels make for memorable vacations. When the sand and surf are just steps from your door, it’s hard not to enjoy yourself.
